About this project:
Horror fishing game with quests, loot and an an eerie monster lurking beneath the ice.
LEGO Monster Fishing was the very first LEGO island experience developed in-house at the LEGO Group in Billund, Denmark. The game is part of the LEGO Fortnite ecosystem and can be played for free with the code 3707-1323-9153. I joined the Emerging Game Genres team in the summer of 2024 where I was part of the initial pre-production and design phases, as well as full production, quality assurance and playtesting.
My main responsibility was to design and implement the monster behaviour using UEFN and Verse programming. Taking inspiration from the article The Trajectory of Fear – or How to Use Horror Tropes Effectively in your Game, I implemented a cyclic tension/state system which gradually escalates the monster’s behaviour in order to build tension for players.
